Agro processing is defined as set of techno-economic activities, applied to all the produces, originating from agricultural farm, livestock, aquacultural sources and forests for their conservation, handling and value-addition to make them usable as food, feed, fibre, fuel or industrial raw materials.

Agro processing sector has experienced expansion during last 5 decades, starting with a handful of facilities which were mainly operating at domestic/cottage level. Today there are many avenues for processing: rice, wheat, coarse cereals, pulses, oilseeds, fruits/vegetables, sugarcane, cotton, jute, animal produce, fish, commercial crops, plantation crops, medicinal and aromatic plants, apiculture (bee-keeping), floriculture, and traditional foods.
Process Required: Should be able to work in familiar, predictable,routine, situation of clear choice. Professional Knowledge: factual knowledge of field of knowledge or study. Professional Skill: recall and demonstrate practical skill, routine and repetitive skills in narrow range of application, using appropriate rule and tool, using quality concepts. Core Skill: language to communicate written or oral, with required clarity, skill to basic Arithmetic and algebraic principles, basic understanding of social political and natural environment. Reponsibility: Responsibility for own work and learning.
