Architecture
An architect works towards planning and designing town, buildings, structures, etc. The architect has to consider factors like changing outlook of a society, rules and regulations passed by the government, availability of space and building materials and the financial status of the state concerned. "Architects typically do the following:
1)Meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements for structures
2)Give preliminary estimates on cost and construction time
3)Prepare structure specifications
4)Direct workers who prepare drawings and documents
5)Prepare scaled drawings, either with computer software or by hand
6)Prepare contract documents for building contractors
7)Manage construction contracts
8)Visit worksites to ensure that construction adheres to architectural plans
9)Seek new work by marketing and giving presentations("Architect:career, salary...", n.d.)"

Architects need:
1)creativity and artistic ability
2)technical ability and spatial awareness
3)the ability to sketch and draw
4)a good level of English, mathematics and physics

6)the ability to work, liaise and negotiate with other people

Candidates with at least 55% marks (Science) in their 12th standard examination are eligible to apply for the course. They should also qualify any of the entrance examinations like All India Engineering Entrance Examination or AIEEE conducted by the Central Board of Secondary `Education (CBSE) or the National Aptitude Test in Architecture conducted by the National Institute of Advanced Studies and Architecture. Students with excellent drawing abilities, clarity of thought, creativity, strong aesthetic sense and social awareness are likely to get through.
"Eligibility for postgraduate programmes will be on the basis of a bachelor's degree in (B.E/B.Tech) or any other equivalent branches of engineering. The duration for this course is two years.
One can also specialize in a particular field if he/she wants to. Specializations such as Lighting, Green building, Construction management, Fire protection engineering, Building transportation systems, Acoustics design and construction are also available apart from many others("Architechture career scope, eligibility and job prospects", n.d.).
