GENDER FRIENDLY TOOLS

Female farmers in India are extensively involved in agricultural production over the years and their role ranges from the landless laborers to the self-sufficient big farmers. However, continuous exposure to the labor-intensive working style, use of tools that are quite heavy and inappropriate for the female farmers, render them prone to various musculoskeletal disorders and persistent backache. To address such issues, different tools have been developed by the scientific institutes around the country that make the labor intensive and time-consuming tasks in the agricultural production, much easier. The tools are available at the reasonable prices at the nearby Agriculture departments and other vendors. In sync with the ongoing interventions of the national government for reducing drudgery of female farmers, we have collated a list on Gender-Friendly Agricultural tools which are region specific and caters to the needs of female farmers.
